Mind mapping exercises

Just wanted to note that I'm coming to the conclusion that I have very little to put on the early mapping worksheets. Is this typical? I have been able to write down the basics, but I have the sense that (candidly) I have few close friends and few interests...as pathetic as that sounds. I've revisited the exercise a few times, but have not been able to come up with much. Three pages to take a crack at it was more than plenty.

So it can be attachments, such as I like such and such. For example if you like to stay on task and get upset when someone derails that you can have task oriented on the self map. Meaning you want the status que of staying on task, when your perception says that doesn't happen you will potentially have a negative reaction. That is an example of my self map.

Perhaps its movies you like, or sports teams, books, whatever. political views, religious views, maybe you like sushi, maybe you hate a certain kind of music, all that stuff goes on the self map. This exercise was difficult for me I spent several days building my map, basically anything that makes you tick goes on that map. The hard part I am having now is deciding to part ways with all that stuff.

 

If you have a clear map and that is truly representative of yourself then you are on a good path. See the whole point is to simplify your life so the less on your map the less you can be emotionally charged about. So if you are having a hard time visualizing things on your map try considering what makes you upset or angry? When you get angry maybe try to enter meta awareness and find out what exactly you are angry about, that anger is a result of a self map item. An example I can give for me that I am working on eliminating is bad drives or worst texting drivers. It used to irritate me it still kind of does, so I have bad drivers on my self map. Or I used to and am working on removing it, so when I see a bad driver I don't get as upset. But that ties into actual fear, I realized I don't like bad drivers because they pose a threat to me and it actually deep down inside triggers a fear response. So when you have surface level self map items there is a good chance that it goes much deeper. Try to dig down whatever comes up put on your self map. Even if you don't know how to articulate write out a phrase you can fix it later. I have a word document that goes with my self items because I could not fit it all on there.

 

I hope its that later and you actually have little on your map that way this mind mastery stuff should come easier to you.
