Journaling prompts?

My question is about jounaling prompts. I'm at course 8 kinda been going through the steps pretty much at my pace, mostly because I feel I haven't quite been able to get good focus during my meditation sessions but slowly I feel it's kicking in. One thing that seems to help is Journaling but I wanna know if im on the right teack with this. The few prompts you give us early in course are very positive startups. Should it always be on a positive note or can it also be used to let go some negative stuff we feel deep and knda needs to come out some way? Also should it be done everyday, make it  routine, or as I feel there's a need for it? Are there other prompts examples I can use?
